What is GR8FR8?

GR8FR8.com [pronounced "great freight"] is an easy-to-use, cloud-based TMS solution where transportation partners also enjoy an efficient logistics marketplace to minimize costs, improve communication, and maximize control.

Shippers can centralize freight quotes, tender, track, and manage shipments. Carriers can find new customers, fill lanes, and build their business.

About GR8FR8

GR8FR8.com was founded in September of 2008 when John Van Kampen was working in sales and operations for a transportation brokerage company. He had always known that shippers wanted control of their shipments and to protect that control, they wanted to use asset-based carriers. Many had been burned by "shady" brokers and preferred to use asset-based carriers as a means to move their freight. There were tools in the marketplace that could help them to be more efficient, but were cost prohibitive to smaller players. The idea to bring tools to the small to mid-sized market was born. At this time “cloud-based” applications were uncommon.

A short time later, transportation professional Paul Laidler began working with John. He was tasked with defining the functionality needed to support the business operations of a mid-sized freight brokerage. As they studied the landscape, they discovered that while there were a few companies that were providing this service, the cost was prohibitive unless you were shipping very large volumes. They decided that if they could design a program that was easy to use and understand, and provide it in a manner that could be affordable even if there were a low volume of shipments, then there was an untouched market with great potential.

GR8FR8.com was no longer a simple idea. John and Paul began working closely with SaaS designers and programming engineers to develop software that would lower costs to shippers, offer TMS functionality, and provide a unique platform for freight-bidding.

Over the next 15 months, many more tests and further fine-tuning of the business model and current feature/functionality designs brought them closer to launch.

In August, 2010 GR8FR8 began building a carrier base and directly soliciting for shippers to use our system. In October of 2010 GR8FR8 was launched. It is a finely-tuned machine that we hope exceeds your expectations.
